Chen Jie, Still Missing

Hey everyone,

As you know Chen Jie is still missing and the fact that he is still missing really does make me sad, with the Olympics just around the corner and the conflicts in Tibet it makes me wonder how China got to host the Olympics with soo many problems to fix within China before they should be able to host!

I would like to send his parents money--but it looks like you can only do that through third parties which means they would not get anything. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the investigator or this family?

I just saw an HBO special about stolen children in China. It was heartbreaking. No parent should ever go through something so horrible. As it was mentioned in the Ben-Kingsley narrated special, 70,000 children are snatched from the streets in China every year! I would like to help.

I also saw the HBO special and I can stop crying. I pray that they find him.

Blogger Guy....if you're interested in sending money to the parents then have someone translate the info on Chen Jie's missing poster and contact them. The US dollar is fairly strong against the RMB, any amount would help them greatly.

I saw this report, just last night on HBO. I hope they find their child soon.

While the world buys Chinese goods, it is supporting the wealthy Chinese who pay for these stolen children.

Corrupt officials make money off this sad situation also. The documentary had to stop short of any connection between the officials and stolen children.

I just saw the special on HBO. I myself don't have any children but I feel for this family and the other families that are going through this. It pains me that this world is only concerned about money. Children are being kidnapped. The most innocent in this world are being taken and as an american it makes me sick that we are in a pointless war when we could be trying to help mothers and fathers reunite with there children. A human life is more precious than gold and oil, especiallt a life of a child. I'm going to keep everyone affected by this in my prayers. And I would like to know what I can do to help.

This documentary was so moving. I could never deal with the pain these parents are going through. Just watching it makes one feel so helpless and angry. I think what is most discouraging is knowing how vast China and its population are and how much more difficult it makes things, especially without the help of its authorities and the limited resources of those who are genuinely interested in helping. Even the Chinese detective who is working on the case seems overwhelmed.I would jump on a plane tomorrow if I knew there was something I could do to help find this child.

Very sad indeed, the parents are clearly very loving. I truly hope this child is reunited with his parents. Sociologically, changes seem to be in order in China. Children are grossly undervalued in that country. …the abortion rate of girls, the abduction of others children, the selling of their own children, the belief that buying a child is acceptable! This doesn’t even count the usual suspects of child prostitution and child labor. China boasts the largest amount of economic reserves in the world. I think it’s time they stop buying Dollars and Euros and start investing in rectifying their social issues. I truly hope this child is reunited with his parents.

Blogger guy, You can donate on truevisiontv website, the makers of the film. There is also a link that you can send a message to the production team and Chen Jie’s parents. This might enable you to contact the PI.

I am so completely outraged I can’t help but feel that we need to do so so much more. I look around me and see my plasma TV playing the black in America segment on cnn. Which for me has been highly anticipated? I wanted to see what I should be ashamed of as an American in regards to the treatment of minorities in what I think of as the world. Many of us have seen the depiction of the American life as the standard for the standard of life of humanity in 2008. That assumption is wrong. We stand by waiting to vote again while people around the world suffer. Here I am with my plasma TV, new car, lap top and blah blah blah. Where is our sense of right and wrong? Worship Allah, Jesus, Buddha, God, Zeus, the Sun or anything or anyone whatever! What is right and what is wrong? It is wrong to compromise when you think of how you treat you fellow man. That means man and woman, black and white, Asian and Indian, every person you can think of. How can we live in this world? Tomorrow I will wake up and go about my day. I will see the worker at dunkin donuts and most likely subtly think they are white trash, they deserve to make me coffee. This alone is wrong. But yet that person lives a standard of life so much better than the people we have seen in this documentary. I believe that I am lucky and god blessed to have been born in American. I also believe I have been horribly derelict in my duties as a human. The global economy is complex and needs careful consideration by those in power. But you, you who is reading this now for a fact that there can’t be a grand economic plan for the whole world. You should know the world, or at least the vast majority of economists who study follow the world economy truly looked up to Alan Greenspan. If he can make, a mistake can’t everyone? I truly believe that we exist today by random chance. If you are lucky enough to read this on your computer you should realize its 2008 and many humans can’t read. Regardless of literacy many can’t afford or obtain a computer or an internet connection. The vast majority can’t do either even if they had the money. WE ARE SHAMED. I consider my self a part time agnostic and half Christian and half atheist, if that are possible. Whatever part of civilization you are a part of we are shamed. We all 95+ percent of us look to improve are own life than nomadic reindeer hunters in Siberia, or starving children in Bolivia. Why? I stand in solidarity with chin jibe’s dad. I too would give my life for his. I would give it for any child. Of course what holds us back is I would give my life for my children, nieces, nephews and other loved ones first before others.

Your loss is tragic. My heart is with you. Money could never replace a child; never. until our species evolves to a higher order the unfortunatance of greed and the need for power to substantiate the ego will continue to cause grief within every society.
Good luck in your quest!

I am disgusted that the Chinese government does not address such a disgusting practice as child trafficking! The One Child Policy is obviously ineffective and harmful to society. I can only hope that the 2008 Olympics in Beijing will bring visibility to the horrible human rights conditions in China and that the world will demand China to address, rectify and protect the rights of all humans. As a US consumer, I am going to be more proactive and go out of my way not to purchase products Made in China. This will surely be difficult and I am saddened that our US economy is so dependent on 'Made in China' and that indirrectly our purchases benefit the rich who purchase children and the corrupt Chinese officials whose policies allow such abuse to take place.

to Gitpik and all others:

you can donate money thru the production company website (http://www.truevisiontv.com/china/index.htm), just click on the playing card. Despite the hesitation of others, this is a viable way to get help to this Childs family. Trust that money is the only way they will ever get their son back. As you’ve just seen, everything has a price in China.

I donated and only regret I didn’t give more.

I would like to start a fund specifically for this family. I do not believe it would take much of a reward -perhaps a few thousand dollars in order to recover Chen Jie. Anyone have any idea how I could do this? I did give to the fund at True Vision, but would also like to give directly to this family.

November 2009: Is there an update on this child, Chen Jie? I would like to start a reward fund in China specifically for this child's recovery. I do not believe it would take much (in US dollars)to locate Chen Jie. Anyone have any suggestions? I did donate to the general fund by following the link here but I want to help this family directly.

I saw this program for first time for some days ago. It really brooked my heart.
I found the TV production website that did the film. At their website you can donate money to Chen Jie's parents.
I just did it and it was really easy to do.
Please do the same!
Hopefully this can help Chen Jie's parent to find him.
Here is the link: http://www.truevisiontv.com/help/index.htm

Like Chen Jie, this site, the potal for family donations (truevision donation page) have all been abandoned. Millions of viewers, untold profit from the film, and the one portal that was available to help this child's family is now gone.

Hi there,

I created this site years ago,

The where abouts of Chen Jie, is still unknown

I will no longer be uodating the site as there is no more information about him that I can find

Hi there, I have found some updates on this I would like to share, dating back to August 2011.

I'm afraid that Chen Jie has not been found. His parents haven't given up the search entirely, they are still pro active with the parents group, but sadly there is little hope. However one bit of good news is that they have since had another child.
